Easy Emu - If you are new to MAME... this site well help you if you are totally lost.

Official Links to MAME:

  • Official MAME Homepage - The project that kicked off Arcade Emulation since early 1997.

  • MAME32 Homepage - Mame32QA is the home of Mame32 which is the graphical version of MAME (highly recommended by lowerhell as it is updated whenever MAME is updated, and works well with the X-Arcade).  The folder option is a great way to trade lists of favorites with friends (see below).

  • Official MAME FAQ - What the heck is all this MAME stuff?  Find everything you want to know about MAME (well, except where to get ROMS)

  • alt.games.mame FAQ -  Not official, but still very good.

MAME32 Custom Folders - To use these, simply unzip to your mame32/folders directory

  • Devious' Favorite Mame games - last updated 2/21/03 - These are a lot of the games I had in the arcade my parents owned where I grew up, or other games I just liked... (i.e. when you ate at xyz restaurant as a kid and played the game while your food got cold...)

  • Messed up MAME games - last updated 2/21/03 - These are games that are plain messed up!  My criteria is that they must be somewhat fun, but mainly just weird.  What drugs were these game authors on?!

MAME32 Useful files - these files show art, info and history for your roms in MAME32

  • Screen Shots, Title Screen Shots, Cabinet pictures and Icons - Go here to get these useful graphic files for MAME32.  They show up when you have a ROM selected to give you a better idea of what the games is about.

  • Flyer Archive - Like above, these are flyers and promotional materials from Arcade games.

  • History.dat - Put in your MAME32 Dir.  Provides history of MAME games in MAME32 (i.e. when you select pacman, you can find out interesting facts about it.  Very useful file.

  • Highscore.dat - this site tells you how you can save all the high scores you get on your MAME games

  • Cheat in MAME! - Wish you were better at the old arcade games?  CHEAT!  Almost every game has some sort of cheat in it... place in your mame32 directory and make sure you enable cheats under your MAME32 Defaults section.

  • Other MAME icons - Cool icons you can use to link to your games (or anything else).

Links for ROMS

  • mame.dk - Probably the most complete source to see all the ROM files in MAME.  Can't download anymore, unfortunately.

  • Search for Roms - MAME Roms are hard to find these days, but this link may help you get started.  (the best seem to be in non-english).

  • Clear Mame Pro - Good MAME Rom Manager

  • ROM Center - Another good MAME Rom Manager

Links for MAME news

Other Links

  • Arcade Controls - This is a site to check out some custom cabinet projects (over 500!)

  • Daphne - Remember those Laser Disk cartoony type games? Dragon's Lair, Space Ace, etc. You can play those too!
